Oral cancer is one of the top 10 most common diseases

The most common type of oral cancer is Squamous cell carcinoma.
Which accounts for about 96 percent of oral cancers. Another 4 percent is Sarcoma. Oral cancer usually occurs in people over 40 years of age. The most common location is the ventrolateral border of the tongue.

Patients can be divided into 3 groups: Group 1: Patients with no lesions, under 40 years old. And no behaviors that put them at risk of developing. Should screened for oral cancer every year; Group 2: Patients with no lesions, aged 40 years and over, and/or risk factors such as smoking, chewing betel, drinking alcohol regularly, or having a history of infection with certain viruses such as HPV (Human papilloma virus)

If the biopsy results show no abnormalities, they should screen for oral cancer every 3 months.
Currently, there is no clear method to prevent cancer.
However, patients can reduce their risk. Prevention is to reduce risk factors such as not smoking, chewing tobacco, chewing betel, drinking alcohol. And cleaning the mouth to maintain good oral hygiene. If dentures are worn, they should dentures that do not cause chronic irritation in the mouth.
